Ray was a wonderful conversationalist. I loved getting phone calls from him, and having energized conversations about music-because he loved it so much. Speaking for myself, and all of the musicians who gave him cd's to play on his show-we are hugely indebted to his hard work, and persistence in playing the music-no matter what.
